We have recently come across what we think
is the ultimate CSY 44 Walk-over! |
|
The owner of
this boat, a real CSY fan, took this boat out of charter. With some good advice from
some seasoned sailors he rebuilt his boat from stem to stern! To coin a very
overworked phrase in this business "No expense has been spared!" |
 |
This vessel has a standard CSY 44 non
walk-through layout with center cockpit, one of the best-designed and spacious
cockpits ever created. Set deep into the hull and well protected, 8 people can share
this space with plenty of elbow room for all. The cockpit coaming/seatbacks are
exceptionally high for security and proper back support. Custom-made removable
awning and windshields were made for the cockpit to protect you from the elements. |
|
Everything on the entire boat was replaced or
overhauled in this complete 5 year refurbishing project. The bulkheads in the
forward and aft cabin have been replaced, and the below area has a new light, large,
and airy look from the new Formica and teak. |
 |
|
 |
New upholstery
of the highest quality throughout, including the cockpit area, along with well
placed new lighting and light fixtures give the interior an attractive, modern and
spacious look.
|
|
7 overhead opening hatches and 19 opening
chrome-plated ports provide exceptional
ventilation and lighting on this CSY. |
 |
 |
There is a new (in 1998)
Perkins 62 hp diesel engine.
Approximately 6,000 hours of labor were spent on this renovation, 2000 hours alone
on carpentry and fibreglass work. This labor alone cost close to $240,000.
Everything on this vessel was either replaced with new, modified or overhauled
material of the absolute best quality.
|
|
The GALLEY is equipped with three-burner propane stove and
oven. Complete set of
pots and pans, china and silverware. On the starboard side there is an extremely large refrigerator/freezer
(approximately 14 cubic feet of refrigeration and 7 cubic feet of freezer space
which runs on 110-volt shore power or the compressor from the engine). All the lids have been hinged and the seals have been modified keep the cold in and
the warm air out. All doors and doorframes were taken apart and worn areas replaced and reinforced
with new teak. |
 |
 |
There is plenty of room for
storage in the forward cabin, drawers, shelves, and a
large closet for hanging clothes.
|
|
Anchor has 300' of 5/16" ACCO and high-test chain with CQR anchor.
VWC 2300.
Maxwell windlass mounted on custom made 3/4" fibreglass housing with foot
switch. Newly mounted davits hold 9'9" inflatable dinghy on which all wooded parts have been
West System'd.
We are sure
that the new owners of this Yacht are very pleased and proud of her. She is
certainly in perfect condition and will give many, many miles of offshore cruising
in comfort and safety.
This is an excellent example of what can be done with an ex charter boat that's as
well built as the CSY. If you would like to do a similar refit on your yacht, we
would be happy to put you in touch with the right person to help you to get a start
in the right direction.
